Custom events & conversion goals

Track meaningful outcomes and build a simple page or event funnel.

Record a completed outcome

Use a short, stable event name after a successful signup or other completed action. Do not include customer names, emails, payment details, or personal identifiers in event names. Arbitrary event properties are outside the first release.

// Run only after the action succeeds.
window.visitlift?.track("signup_completed");

Define a goal

In Funnels, use the Conversion goals section to create an event goal with the exact event name, or a page goal with an exact path such as /thank-you. Goals count matching accepted events. A page refresh or another matching action can create another conversion; this is an event count rather than a guarantee of unique people.

Build your funnel

Choose two to five ordered page or event steps. Basic funnels follow events within an estimated visit; they do not attempt to join unidentified visitors across devices or different days.

Start with a short path such as /pricing → signup_completed → /checkout. Use your actual application’s paths and event names. Keep the date range and attribution model in mind when comparing a funnel with financial reports.
